Muntons has made a concerted effort to reduce water used in process. Since 2009 we have significantly increased production volume and new process additions at our Stowmarket plant.
However, through our focus on water usage we have managed to reduce group water consumption by over 25%. Primarily this has been through focussing on use of water to cool and condition.
Seasonal variation in raw materials available for processing required slightly higher water use but the overall water consumption per tonne for malt (red line) remains at the lower end of water used in relation to industry best practice.
